What’s up guys, in today’s video, we’re going to be touring through one of the coolest Airbnbs in the entire world. Now, you may have already seen this featured in magazines or on the news, or in all kinds of different places. It’s this really cool, fully mirrored house out in the desert, it’s the world famous invisible house is what it’s called. And so we’re going to be going through it, it’s here in Joshua Tree, California, we’re gonna be going through a video tour of this property. And then we’re also going to take a look at the Airbnb listing itself. And I’m going to share my feedback on both I’m going to be reacting to just the overall tour and also the Airbnb listing and how good of a representation of the wow factor of the property I really think it is. So let’s go ahead and jump right into it. Let’s start with our video tour here
Okay, so already you can see the setting is just amazing.
The desert stretches endlessly in a sea of sand and rocks under the scorching sun. The train field ancient carved into the earth by aeons of natural process. The landscape is harsh and unforgiving, evoking the sensation of being on an alien world.
But it emits the bareness a glimmer of hope shines in the form of a glass house.
New architectures unique fusion of modern design reflecting the rugged look at how cool that is. And it’s so big, it’s actually a lot bigger than I expected it to be. It’s such a long structure, and just like incredible just out in the middle of nowhere with like, no other people or other things around it within eyeshot. So like the reflective nature of it is just Oh cool. And this setting landscape is a symbol of resilience standing strong against the harsh elements.
It is the invisible house
let’s skip a little bit, I want to see the actual the actual house itself. It’s got like a full length lap pool. That’s crazy. Like think about how little whip you have and they used a bunch of it for a pool and that’s so cool that you’ve got this like crazy lap pool in here and all lit up at night too.
Wow, yeah, not please look so cool that up all at night. It’s definitely not an invisible house at night when it’s lit up like that, but super cool.
The exterior of this home is striking and unique. We have these massive glass panels. And these glass panels have mirrored finish. And that’s how we get the structure to reflect the surroundings around us. Thus the name, invisible house. Now this section of the property has a foundation that goes into the ground. But on the other side we have two concrete case ons floating the rest of the structure where we have the primary bedroom suite. Now coming here, small patio, the sliding glass doors open up the junior primary bedroom. And coming to this side, we can see the hillside that this house is located right next to NASA boulders, amazing scenery and this walkway takes it to the entry
I mean you’ve got to be really into minimalism to like to vibe with this, which I am I tend to be a very minimalist person. So I really really liked this and I really really liked the the floating aspect of the one half of the house how just kind of floats above the rocks. They’re super super cool
so we have the sliding glass doors, opening up to the property, Sunny space. I can’t wait to show you what’s on this site. But first, let’s turn this way. setback columns, walls of glass, incredible scenery. And now let’s cover the specs. So we have three bedrooms, four full baths 5500 square feet of interior space, situated on a 90 acre plot, which is the biggest privately owned plot right next to the Joshua Tree National Park. It is available for short term rentals managed by field trip owned by Chris Henley. So I want to give big thanks to them for making this tour possible. And as always, you can find more information in the description of this video. Well
Whoa, 5500 square feet. So this is uh, this is a proper big place and it’s, it’s just so long and narrow like that to have 5500 square feet in such a long and narrow structure. Crazy Crazy. And sitting on a 90 acre lot right on this side of Joshua Tree National Park like that is kind of unbeatable. Without a doubt, the coolest Airbnb in the world, in my opinion. Yeah. And it’s and I’ve had our eyes on this property for a long time. We’re excited to finally get in here. It’s kind of one of those iconic photography locations and iconic Joshua Tree locations. You know, it is the invisible house. I mean, so cool. And let’s continue our tour. Now, we have this opening, taking us to the junior primary bedroom. These rooms are not like the typical rooms that we tour on our channel. This measure was very unique. We have the built in bed here, made out of marble, and they use the same marble as a back wall. TempurPedic bed super comfortable, modern light fixtures, and obviously, room Yes tonne of natural light because we’re surrounded by walls of glass. The good thing is, you can see outside very clearly that they cannot see you from the outside. These windows are all mirrored tinted, essentially. And you can just open up the sliding glass doors and enjoy the scenery. Yeah, that is weird. I see how it makes a lot of sense as a short term rental. But it wouldn’t really make a lot of sense as like a primary house, a primary residence because like, think about a little privacy there. Like there wasn’t even a door there to separate the bedroom. And sure you can put one but I feel like that does kind of ruin the natural like flow of this. Like it’s a glass house. You’re not really meant to feel privacy. Like it’s not really what it’s optimising for, but also like having a marble bed. That’s crazy. Incredible. I’ve never been in a place like this before. Yeah, we are very close to Los Angeles. But we rarely get the opportunity to actually visit. We’re two hours away from Los Angeles. Yes, that’s right. And this is our first time in Joshua Tree. Alright, I’m gonna close the sliding glass doors. We have polished concrete. Also, like think about the challenge of having a glass house like number one heating and cooling. I wonder I wonder if it’s a nightmare or if the mirror aspect like reflects a lot of the light and heat I would assume it must but then the other thing is like you can’t really put any actual rooms because like imagine having or like even just small like imagine having a closet here that you can see there’s a rack to hang clothes but having a closet would mean that you’d have to take up like wall space that’s that’s just windows so kind of take away a lot from the from the space because they seem to like to keep like all of the windows completely unobstructed. Concrete floors, modern light fixtures great volume. And yeah, this is the junior primary bedroom. Now, this hallway takes us to the junior primary bathroom, same polished concrete floors, and I’m going right in. Look at Oh man, this is this is very minimalist even for me. This is crazy. walk in shower. This is crazy. Stainless steel OLED panels, Ray head above, it’s all open. And on top of that, you have these invisible branded towel throughout the property where you can hardly see it. How cool is that? Like?
I mean, I can see that it’s just a towel is branded a towel. This guy’s a little blind. Have your toilet MYR really cool light fixture then in the on the site, their unique their modern bathroom. Now let’s go back to the whole Yeah, it’s honestly so minimalist that it feels a little empty to me. Like if I were staying here, I’m sure that it’s going to be expensive. I haven’t actually looked at what it’s priced at. But if I were staying here, I feel like there’s just so much that’s kind of missing from this property because they’re going so minimalist like you don’t have a bedside lamp, you don’t have like an alarm clock there that even the bedding looked very very minimalist and like yeah, I feel like it’s maybe missing a few things that would just be nice to have even I appreciate the minimalism but we so we can check out the main space. Now. This would be cool being in that in that bedroom and being able to just like walk out and on your way to the kitchen to have breakfast in the morning like swim there. That’d be kind of cool. I don’t know how much you would do it if you lived here. But like as an Airbnb, I would do it every morning. I don’t know about you, but like I would just swim to breakfast every day. Now the focal point of this main space is the 100 foot heated pool that is against the West Wall. Views are fantastic scenery is amazing. And you have a heated pool in the centre of your home. So cool. Yeah, we’ve seen some interior pools before but never one like this. Not at this extent. Yeah, exactly. You have your open ceilings industrial feel. First seating area on my right hand side. And in fact Mikey can we take everybody outside for a second? I want to show this side view. So this one thing I don’t love is like it doesn’t look like there’s seating
that you could sit in while wet. And you’re going to be swimming in the pool so that when you get out like you have to dry off completely go change just to sit in the seating. And then like if you’re if you’re dry, why are you sitting on the edge of the pool like that just like hanging out? I don’t know, it just seems kind of weird. Property is situated right next to a hillside with these boulders, and the scenery. It’s like a movie. Yeah, and the reflections you get all around the house from the rocks. I also find it weird that there’s like I’m being critical. Like I got me wrong. This is an amazing property. But why are there window cutouts in a house entirely made of Windows? Like is that a door? Is that why that’s like that? But then if it’s a door, why does it walk out into nothing? I don’t know. I’m confused.
And the other side of the house is unlike anything we’ve ever seen would be there’s an invisible patio without a doubt. And I really appreciate how they built this house, how it’s integrated to the landscape. And then you have the mirrored walls, which helps it blend even more. I’ve never seen a structure like this before. It’s fascinating. Yeah, it’s incredible. I wish they had these kinds of homes. All over the country. I could see these in woods. I could see these in deserts like they would blend anywhere. You know, I totally agree. I don’t know about that. I don’t think it’s actually a practical structure to live in. I think it’s cool as a as a concept really cool as an Airbnb, but like I would not be littering. You know, the whole country with with, like, mirror container homes like like that. It’s not just my back inside another seating area. I gotta show this. Well, two details here. Number one, this is the coolest chess set I’ve ever seen in my life. Yeah, but it’s like, where do you play that? Like, I don’t know why it’s over here because you can’t you can’t like move this table. I just there’s a lot of impracticality here for sure. It’s all brushed metal pieces. Such a curated accessory and check this. That is cool, though. That is a cool chair set up. This is the owners next project. They’re calling it this Starburst house. It is built out of 20 containers. Really. And they’re building in here in Joshua Tree. How cool is that? It looks like something that is very cool. That is I’m excited to see that one too. Let’s see on like another planet, you know? Yeah, it looks like a UFO that landed in Joshua Tree. You know what’s crazy amazing. All right, let’s continue. Right next to the seating area. We have this dining table. Stainless steel top seating for 10 Even the chairs are so futuristic. See, I don’t love that your dining table is beside the pool. That’s just kind of weird to me. Yeah, I don’t love that. Look at the angles here.
And it is right next to 100 foot pool.
I’ve never been in a space like this before I can get over this hillside right here. Okay, there they are couple of lounge chairs. So not bad. I liked it. At least they have some lounge chairs that you presumably could sit in while wet. Like if you just got out of the pool. It feels to me like the pool is more meant to be like an A an art deco piece more so than like an actual pool that one would swim in. I personally would be swimming in that guy all the time. But I feel like that’s not really the intention of the pool. I feel like it’s more supposed to be like a design element. Yeah, this rocky desert the landscape views.
It’s a lot to take in. Yeah, I am really excited to see what this looks like when the sun goes down. Look at these lounging chairs. That glass coffee table and obviously we have more sliding glass doors opening up to that walkway, automatic shades throughout. And this is where we have the main seating area. I really like these modern sectional couches, light fixture, glass coffee table. Breathtaking views. We have another table on the side and right across from the seating area. We have this 86 inch LG TV and I really appreciate that they have the TV on the stand with tires. That way you can move this TV wherever you want. And because they have glass walls throughout, they ended up recessing in the plugs on the floors now see if it were me I personally would put a projector a projector would make way more sense in here because then you could have like the actual screen hidden up here in the in the ceiling. And then you could have it pulled down and it would it was like block off the light beam behind it like it would block off the block off that whole section there and to kind of make it feel like a more of a wall and then you could have a a projector the actual projector over here on the other side. And then the nice thing is you wouldn’t have to have like this weird rolling stand which I personally don’t like and you wouldn’t have to have the like cables just running along the ground which I also don’t like they just kind of stand out. They don’t look that nice. I personally would have gone for a projector here. I think that would have been like a total no brainer.
Probably Mighty One more detail.
There’s a sliding glass door here. And that’s why we have this glass railing and they ended up putting this class really to the interior. That way on the exterior, they protect that monolithic look. But at the same time you have your protection, you can just open up the glass and enjoy the scenery now. Okay, so that so it is it’s just a Juliet balcony type of deal. But with a glass railing on the inside, feel like that’s kind of not really. Like, there’s kind of no point to that, at that point where you can’t even step outside you have to like lean over a glass railing. But I mean, for airflow I guess. Let’s check out the next space kitchen. I really liked this Long Island design, you have your bar seating here, first thing, white flat panel cabinetry, and you have two smaller sinks here, induction cooktop, marble countertop, this is the same marble that we saw at the junior primary bedroom, pendant lights above. And on this side, look at this glass then microwave toaster coffeemaker. And since this is a short term rental property, they provide all the accessories, appliances, utensils, towels, everything you need. So you can just come in and enjoy this house. Now. The kitchen is probably my favourite part. So far. I really liked the kitchen. I think that like an open concept kitchen makes sense. Even not in a mirrored glass house. So I think it like just actually works with the space a lot better. We’re just trying to fit a dining room into this like very long, narrow, like bungalow essentially, is just weird trying to fit the living room in there kind of weird trying to fit a bedroom in there and keep it open concept. Kind of weird. Like none of that stuff really makes sense. It’s cool. Again, super cool as a short term rental. I think it works. But like from a just an actual practicality standpoint. It’s just kind of weird and doesn’t really work that well. But the kitchen I feel like just actually matches and works with this house. Really, really well. On the other side, rest of the built ins, freezer fridge. Two ovens. And the way this kitchen is designed can easily accommodate large events, large groups of catering. And yeah, I feel like we’re on Mars right now. In a futuristic, this open space is kind of like pointless. You’re not really using it. But fair enough modern home this is I can’t wrap my head around it. Yeah, I used to read Life magazine when I was a kid and they would have these conceptual drawings of like, the way Holmes would look in the future. This was a 1950s magazine. And this is always what they look like, you know, it’s it’s crazy. Yeah, it’s this crazy hypermodern monolithic structure that contrasts so nicely with the landscape of Joshua Tree. The Invisible houses near a stretch of desert were two distinct ecosystems bedroom by the way, come on in steel frame is exposed walls of glass facing the views. There’s actually another sliding glass door here. And looking at the room, another king size bed built in marble bedframe you have some cabinetry for your clothes, light and bright. And this is your open walk in shower, which is just going in there. And you have a stone base rain it above stainless steel panel. So futuristic. Yeah, like you can see how it kind of got like weird when they added walls in here in this room. But they it seems like they had to in order to make it a three bedroom. But that’s like, again, like having a shower here for a short term rental. It’s like cool. Like, you know, it’s a vibe. It’s cool. But like, practically speaking, would you want to live here every day or like live, like come back here again and again. And again. I think it’s just like not super practical to do that. It’s more one of those things that you go to you experience it once. It’s amazing. It’s super cool. But then after that, it’s just like the kind of the novelty has worn off and you don’t really want to go back to it again is how I personally feel. Yeah, it is like you’re on a spaceship. That’s right. And Mikey, let’s show this. This is the half bathroom, you have your vanity here, toilet light fixture. This is the second bedroom. Now let’s go back to the main space. So we can hit that hallway and go check out the primary bedroom suite.
So can we show this mirror piece for a second? It looks like a mirror. But it’s not because right on the other side, we have another full bathroom. This is essentially for the main spaces. We have the vanity here, medicine cabinet, and on the other side that will walk in shower. And the mirror that I just showed you. It’s actually not a mirror. It’s a glass piece where we can see the other side but they cannot see in. In fact, this pocket door is the same way I can see outside, but they cannot see me so creepy and weird in a bathroom that is just like why would you want in a bathroom to feel like I mean, if you’re an exhibitionist, and that’s your thing, then I mean I’m not
Your kink shame or anything, but like, that just seems weird that you’d be like sitting on the toilet or in the shower. And you’d be able to look out at like the 10 people that you booked this place with or like your six other friends that are like cooking in the kitchen and you’re like naked in the shower, and you just know that they can’t see you, but you can see them. That is just a weird, weird thing to me. Just like on the exterior, they’re basically why you correct. Now, on the hallway, we also have the laundry room, washer, dryer, cabinetry or a storage area. And then we have this
pocket door, opening up to the primary bedroom suite. This is definitely going up there as one of the coolest spaces we have ever toured. for so many reasons. Engineering. Oh purchase going on. Accessories, finishes details. I mean, this room is very unique. First off, let’s talk about this. Yeah, super cool. But like it just does not feel cosy at all. It’s so industrial. And so Wait, what? They never showed that. Now you have a neighbour there? What is going on there? What the heck is that? That kind of ruins it. There’s like a neighbour there. That’s just weird. That’s I don’t know why there’s another property that is on 90 acres. So are there we another property right there. Double Glass bedframes. That weighs over 2500 pounds. Right across from that we have this glass railing. Hi, these are sliding glass doors that open up to Juliet balcony. That way you can really soak in these views, which are incredible. Now on the other side, we have a small light and check this out.
Invisible house comes with its own invisible guitar that has to be had this with Joe pays guitar. I think I’m holding it upside down. Really? There you go. That was Joe Perry’s guitar. Correct. Wow. How amazing is that? That’s really cool. And I feel like they wouldn’t give that to you with it. When you book it through Airbnb. That’d be crazy. Because acrylic guitars are actually deceptively heavy.
Yeah.
Give me a wealth of fountain of knowledge. That one definitely was. And I’m just out of words come and follow me. Look at this open bathroom design. You know what this property reminds me next of the she’s course in residence on the interior. And 277 Fifth Avenue on the exterior. It’s like, alright, I feel like we’ve seen it all now these just kind of kind of tour around there more tour on the outside. Yeah, like so I think it’s a really, really cool place. I think I would love to stay there. But I would not want to go back there multiple times. I don’t think it just seems so impractical. I’m curious. Now I want to see like how booked up they are.
Yeah, so actually, they have quite a bit of vacancy, honestly, like more than I would have expected, I would have thought that there just be like endless bookings on this property. But you can see that like, it doesn’t seem like it’s getting that booked up at all. And I don’t know if maybe that’s just because they price it super high. Like I would expect a property like this to be maybe around like 1500 or so dollars a night. Let’s see how much it actually is.
What is that?
Yeah, that is pricey. Whoa, holy. That’s like 40. That’s like almost $5,000 at night. That’s in May. Let’s see, like if there if like, you know, if we go, I bet they’re just gonna have one single price. Okay, no, they actually adjust their pricing. So it’s $3,500 a night that’s Canadian. So US dollar you’re looking at a bit last, but like, still, that is an expensive place to stay for a place that to me feels kind of like soulless. It’s kind of like, like I’ve seen tours of like rooms and suites in Vegas that are like this, where it just kind of feels a bit soulless. It doesn’t have like a real warmth to it. And you can see like, there just wouldn’t really be that much to do here. You can play chess, you can play on an acrylic guitar, you can swim, but like what else do you do? They don’t have a bunch of games. There’s not like fun stuff to do. And I feel like the novelty of staying at this house would like it would wear off after like two maybe three nights. And you just kind of want to go back to a property that’s comfortable where you can like, be comfortable, feel nice and cosy. So like yeah, not I’m not overly surprised. I guess that it’s not booked up. I would have thought that there’d be a market for this and people who would just like it’d be a big enough market of people who just like wanted to stay at a cool property like this that it will be more booked up than it is.
Yeah, I feel like the photos do like a pretty good job. It’s pretty easy to photograph a house this this beautiful like not not to say like as a photographer vz but I just feel like, you know, it’d be pretty, pretty hard to make this property look not cool. You know what I mean? Because it’s just so naturally just so cool. I also feel like they’re really avoiding showing that neighbour they’re like, you know
Ever see it anywhere in any video except for that like one shot where they like almost accidentally showed the neighbour there. I want to know what’s going on there.
Like is that it? Is that the neighbor’s house over there or something like what’s because I, you know, luckily there was a neighbour close by yeah okay there’s this what is that? Is that someone else’s house is that just like a storage space that they use to like store supplies or something for this like Mega house or like what’s going on there? What is that place? I want to know. I’m curious now.
Yeah, it’s such a weird floorplan too. Yeah, I guess like the photos are really good. The the listing
Okay, cool. They’ve got a quote from Brian Chesky from the CEO of Airbnb imagine a piece of modern art, one of the most spectacular homes in the world on all of Airbnb. Yeah, that’s pretty cool.
For you launched November 2022.
Yeah. Ah, yeah, they actually did like a really good job of the listing description. I feel like
yeah, it’s obviously just like an insane property. I feel like the listing is done was done. Well, you can see, like, let’s look at their views and see.
Last one was March of 2023. And we’re in March of 2023. Right now. So there’s like a few there’s 344 views, then we didn’t have anything in February. We had 122344 People in January. So it looks like they’re getting like a decent amount of bookings. Nothing crazy.
But they are getting bookings.
Yeah, it looks like their lowest rating is value, but it’s still a 4.7 which like makes sense to me. I don’t know if I would necessarily want to stay here at that price. But you can accommodate eight gas looks okay, there’s four bedrooms so that there’s only three, but four bedrooms, eight gas, like you can split it but it’s still relatively expensive.
Yeah, I mean, let me know your thoughts. Let me know in the comment section down below what you think of it. I think it’s a really really cool house. I personally don’t really love it as much as I expected to just seeing the photos from the outside. I was like blown away by it. And I was like, this is one of the coolest places ever. But then when you actually tour around through the inside I’m kind of underwhelmed by it to be honest. I don’t love it that much. But let me know am I crazy? Is this an incredible property? Do you completely disagree with me? What do you think? Do you agree? Do you think the same way as I do let me know in the comment section down below.
